A clinical trial of glutathione supplementation in autism spectrum disorders

Janet K Kern, David A Geier. December, 2011 in Medical Science Monitor · 2011

The results suggest that oral … glutathione supplementation may have some benefit in improving some of the transsulfuration metabolites. Future studies among subjects diagnosed with an ASD should further explore the pharmacokinetics of glutathione supplementation and evaluate the potential effects of glutathione supplementation upon clinical symptoms.

Glutathione Supplementation Improves Macrophage Functions in HIV

Morris D, Guerra C, Khurasany M, Guilford F, Saviola B, Huang Y, et al. May, 2013 in the Journal Interferon and Cytokine Research · 2013

The results indicate that HIV infection leads to increased production of free radicals and decreased production of GCLC resulting in depletion of rGSH and this may lead, in part, to the loss of innate immune function observed in HIV patients.

Effects of Oral Liposomal Glutathione in Altering the Immune Responses Against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the Mycobacterium bovis BCG Strain in Individuals With Type 2 Diabetes

To K, Cao R, Yegiazaryan A, Owens J, Nguyen T, Sasaninia K, et al. 2021 in Frontiers in Cellular Infection Microbiology · 2021

We report that L-GSH supplementation for 3 months in people with T2DM was able to reduce the levels of oxidative stress in all blood components and prevent depletion of glutathione (GSH) in this population known to be GSH deficient.

Liposomal Glutathione Supplementation Restores TH1 Cytokine Response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection in HIV-Infected Individuals

Valdivia A, Ly J, Gonzalez L, Hussain P, Aing T, Islamoglu H, et al. July, 2015 in the Journal of Interferon & Cytokine Research · 2015

Furthermore, we demonstrate that supplementing individuals with HIV infection for 13 weeks with liposomal GSH (lGSH) resulted in a significant increase in the levels of TH1 cytokines, IL-1?, IL-12, IFN-?, and TNF-?. lGSH supplementation in individuals with HIV infection also resulted in a substantial decrease in the levels of free radicals and immunosuppressive cytokines, IL-10 […]
